Reston and Auchencrow Resilient Community Plan

What made you establish a Resilient Community Plan?

The community worked well together in times of constraint but had recurring issues of adverse weather conditions and local hazards due to the rural area. Scottish Borders Council contacted the community council initially to set up a pilot resilience group; working together the community has created a profile and resilience plan

What worked well about setting up the Plan?

Training and equipment supplied by the Council enhanced the plan and the community council involved other groups and identified various assets and risks within the local community

What did you learn during setting up the Plan?

The difference that community groups working together can make to the wellbeing of their communities.  Risk assesment and first aid training also enabled the community to enhance its skills

What has made it work?

The backing and support of the local council along with the community being proactive and communicating well
